Ambassadors-in-Training: KIU-WC's Mr and Miss Contest Winners Seek Guidance from Top Administrators

KIU, Western Campus - Miss KIU Caroline Nalweyiso (overall winner) and Patricia Nansubuga (first runner-up), both from School of Nursing Sciences, alongside Mr KIU Alex Rwothongeo (overall winner) and Duncun Karyarugokwe (first runner-up), both from Faculty of Clinical Medicine and Dentistry, led by Guild President H.E Clifton George Lamtoo, paid a courtesy visit to KIU-WC's top administrators yesterday, March 10, 2026. The group met with Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Assoc. Prof. Eric Mabonga, and other officials to discuss their roles as ambassadors and seek guidance on promoting university values.

“As ambassadors, make sure you promote the university’s reputation, uphold our values, and inspire others with your leadership. Engage with your peers, share your experiences, and be the face of positivity and innovation; your role is crucial in shaping perceptions and fostering a culture of excellence”, he said.

This visit comes after the successful third edition of Mr and Miss KIU-WC 2026 contest, themed "The Quintessence of Elegance", which took place on February 20, 2026, at Crane Resort (Wesrec). The event showcased students' talent, cultural diversity, and leadership skills, with 20 contestants representing their faculties.

The contest aimed to promote cultural exchange, leadership, and social advocacy among students, with participants demonstrating exceptional skills in cultural wear, talent showcase, beach wear, and Q&A sessions.

The Mr and Miss KIU Contest is an annual event at KIU-WC, celebrating diversity, leadership, talent, culture, and global citizenship among students. KIU hosts a uniquely multicultural campus with students from over 35 countries across Africa and around the world, offering an environment of cultural plurality and cross-cultural exchange rarely found elsewhere in Uganda.

The event was a testament to KIU's commitment to holistic development and cultural exchange, showcasing the talents of its students and fostering a sense of community. Now serving as university ambassadors, they will promote health awareness, leadership, and cultural unity within the university and beyond.

The visit marked an important step in the winners' journey as ambassadors, as they sought guidance from university officials on how to make a positive impact on campus and beyond.
