Asan Kezimbira's journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and purpose. As the Founder and Executive Director of HTM Give and Give Foundation – Ubuntu, and Interim National President of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) - Uganda, Kezimbira has dedicated his life to serving others and making a meaningful impact in his community.
Kezimbira's passion for leadership and community service was ignited during his time at Kampala International University (KIU), where he graduated with a First Class Degree in Public Administration in 2019. Emerging as the overall best student during KIU’s 20th graduation ceremony, with a CGPA of 4.79, he was the highest-ranking student in his cohort. The rigorous curriculum and emphasis on integrity, responsibility, and leadership at KIU prepared him to excel academically and take on impactful leadership roles.
After graduating, Kezimbira's career path was shaped by his desire to contribute to society, especially in areas of peacebuilding, governance, and humanitarian service. He established the HTM Give and Give Foundation, which now operates in over 12 districts in Uganda, providing education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods to vulnerable communities.
Kezimbira's achievements since graduating from KIU are impressive. He has served in various leadership roles, including President of CARP (Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles), Youth and Students for Peace (YSP), and Interim National President of FFWPU-Uganda. He also earned a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Makerere University, graduating in January 2025.
Kezimbira credits the university's diverse environment and practical learning approach for giving him the confidence and competence to lead with vision and empathy. He advises current KIU students and recent graduates to take their studies seriously, be proactive, and seek mentorship, emphasizing that leadership and service begin where you are.
The values and principles Kezimbira developed during his time at KIU have stayed with him and impacted his personal growth. He learned the value of perseverance, service to others, and integrity, which have guided his journey and shaped how he serves today.
Kezimbira 's favorite memory from his time at KIU is the day he was announced as the top student of his graduation cohort, a moment that affirmed years of hard work and perseverance. He also cherishes the camaraderie, cultural diversity, and student-led activities that enriched his university experience.
As KIU celebrates its 25th anniversary, Kezimbira reflects on the university's growth and evolution since he graduated. He notes that KIU has continued to grow in both academic programs and infrastructure, with an increasing emphasis on innovation, international collaborations, and entrepreneurship.
He hopes to see KIU continue to lead in academic excellence, research innovation, and social impact. He envisions the university becoming a center of peacebuilding, leadership training, and global engagement, investing further in mentorship programs, youth entrepreneurship, and technology.
In congratulating the KIU community on its 25th anniversary, Kezimbira says, "Congratulations to the entire KIU family on reaching this remarkable 25-year milestone! May you continue to nurture dreams, build futures, and light the path for generations to come. Thank you for transforming lives - mine included”.
