KIU, Main Campus câ¬â Did you know that the World Health Organization has a WhatsApp Number that can give you all the facts you need on COVID-19?
WHO launched the dedicated messaging service approximately two weeks ago in English, Arabic, French and Spanish. The app can be accessed by over 2 billion people around the world, hence enabling WHO to get accurate information, câ¬Ådirectly into the hands of the people that need it.câ¬
KIU's Community (local and international) is encouraged to use this platform to get access to factual information about COVID-19. According to WHO, the platform is relevant to anyone, from câ¬Ågovernment leaders to health workers and family friends.câ¬
Further, WHO advised that to access the link on WhatsApp, simply type, câ¬ÅHicâ¬, câ¬ÅHolacâ¬, câ¬ÅSalutc⬠or "⦱¨§" to câ¬Åactivate the conversation, prompting a menu of options that can help answer their questions about COVID-19.câ¬
The app was developed in collaboration with Praekelt.org, using Turn machine learning technology.
