Kampala International University Law Journal Achieves Scopus Indexing

KIU, Main Campus - Kampala International University (KIU) is proud to announce that the Kampala International University Law Journal (KIULJ) has been officially accepted for coverage in Scopus, following a successful evaluation by the Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB). The KIU Law Journal is now officially the first Scopus‑indexed journal in Uganda and the entire East African region.

This milestone marks a significant advancement in KIU’s commitment to research excellence, academic publishing, and global visibility. Importantly, Scopus coverage is effective from 2022, meaning all eligible articles published in the KIU Law Journal from 2022 onward will now be indexed - greatly enhancing their international discoverability, accessibility, and citation potential.

The inclusion of KIULJ in Scopus is a testament to the journal’s consistent publication of high‑quality, peer‑reviewed legal scholarship and its adherence to internationally recognized editorial and publishing standards. This achievement further strengthens KIU’s position as one of Africa’s leading research‑driven universities.

Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Mundu Mustafa, ADVC Research, Innovation, Consultancy, and Extension, stated:

“The Scopus indexing of the Kampala International University Law Journal is a defining moment in our journey toward global research excellence. It reflects years of dedication by our Editorial Board, reviewers, authors, the School of Law, and the DRICE/DHDR team in building a journal that meets the highest international standards.

The retrospective coverage from 2022 is particularly significant, as it ensures that the outstanding legal scholarship published over the past years receives the global visibility and recognition it deserves.

This milestone not only enhances the impact of our researchers’ work but also reaffirms KIU’s commitment to producing knowledge that informs policy, advances justice, and contributes meaningfully to society. We congratulate everyone who made this achievement possible and remain committed to elevating the quality and global impact of scholarly publishing at Kampala International University.”

The University extends sincere appreciation to the KIULJ Editorial Board, reviewers, authors, the research team at the School of Law, the Directorate of Research, Innovation, Consultancy and Extension (DRICE), the Directorate of Higher Degrees and Research (DHDR), and every member of the KIU community whose dedication and collaboration made this achievement possible.

As KIU continues to strengthen its research ecosystem and expand its international footprint, the Scopus indexing of the KIU Law Journal represents another important step toward positioning the University as a globally competitive centre of academic excellence and impactful research.

Congratulations to the entire KIU community on this outstanding achievement.
