KIU Alumni Association to Host Homecoming Dinner

KIU, Main Campus – On Friday, October 2nd, 2026, Kampala International University (KIU) will host an Alumni Homecoming Dinner aimed at strengthening the Alumni Association and fostering deeper connections among alumni from all campuses.

The dinner also seeks to build networks and reinforce mentorship opportunities that enhance KIU's visibility, credibility, and contribution to society. Festivities will culminate in the dinner, preceded by a football match between alumni and the university team, alongside elections for alumni leadership.

During a preparatory meeting held at the Main Campus on Tuesday, September 7th, 2026, KIU management, university leaders, and alumni representatives discussed strategies for mobilizing alumni across the globe and organizing activities building up to the dinner.

Prof. Ngoma Muhammed, Vice Chancellor, emphasized the importance of alumni in defending the image of the university. He noted that KIU is striving to rank among the top 20 universities in Africa, and alumni support is critical to achieving this goal.

"Each of us benefits when we connect, because wherever KIU credentials are presented they are respected, and it is therefore the responsibility of alumni to mentor the young ones while strengthening our collective identity," he stated.

Dr. Mundu Mustafa, Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance and Administration, updated alumni on institutional progress. He highlighted milestones such as engineering graduates registering for professional practice, the expansion of the law program to the Western Campus, and new subspecialties in medicine. He also announced upcoming initiatives, including KIU's Heart and Cancer Institute and the Uganda Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, urging alumni to support these groundbreaking projects.

Christine Ainebyoona, Deputy University Secretary and Campus Administrator (Main Campus), affirmed that preparations for the dinner are progressing well, describing the event as a strategic marketing opportunity to boost KIU's global image.

Ambrose Kibuuka, Member of the Board of Trustees, stressed the need for inclusivity, urging alumni from all campuses to be actively involved. He emphasized that the alumni constitution must reflect the realities of KIU's diverse community to ensure credibility and visibility.

Praise Bosco Tumuramye, Director of KIU Alumni, described the football match as a branding event symbolizing continuity, alongside the elections for alumni leadership.

Dr. Abbas Rutaro, founding President of the Alumni Association, underscored the importance of strong leadership. He noted that alumni of integrity and impact must drive the association forward, working hand in hand with the university.

Wilson Amanya, Acting Chairperson of the Alumni Finance Committee and former Guild Prime Minister (2018–2019), praised KIU's training and competency, while Moses Ariho, former Guild President (2019–2020), urged transparency in alumni activities and preparations.
