KIU Celebrates Three Scientists Recognised among World’s Top 2%

KIU, Western Campus – Kampala International University (KIU) is celebrating another milestone in its research journey following the recognition of three of its scientists among the World’s Top 2% Scientists on October 8th, 2026, highlighting the growing visibility of KIU research on the global scientific landscape.

According to ranking information provided by TOPSCINET, Dr. Esther Ugo Alum (Global Rank: 45,254), Prof. Patrick Aja Maduabuchi (Global Rank: 233,692), and Prof. Godson Emeka Anyanwu (Global Rank: 697,413) have been featured in the international bibliometric ranking.

The recognition reflects the contribution of KIU-affiliated researchers to scientific literature and knowledge generation, while highlighting the university’s continued efforts to strengthen research, innovation, postgraduate training and international academic engagement.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists database is a globally recognised bibliometric resource developed by researchers led by Prof. John P. A. Ioannidis of Stanford University and published through Elsevier. It assesses scientists using citation-based indicators, including citation impact, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted metrics and a composite citation score, with assessments covering both career-long and single-year scientific impact.

For KIU, the recognition provides a reflection of the research taking place within its academic community and the value of sustained scholarly engagement, quality scientific publications and research collaboration in building international visibility.

Beyond the recognition of the three scientists, the achievement also offers encouragement to KIU’s postgraduate researchers and emerging scholars, contributing to the university’s broader research profile and increasing the visibility of its academic work within the international research community.

At a wider level, the recognition adds to the growing visibility of African researchers in global scientific scholarship and underscores the importance of continued investment in research capacity, postgraduate education and innovation across the continent.

As KIU continues to advance its research agenda, the achievement serves as both a celebration of scholarly excellence and an encouragement to pursue greater contributions to knowledge and scientific development in Uganda, Africa and beyond.

KIU congratulates Dr. Alum, Prof. Maduabuchi and Prof. Anyanwu on this remarkable achievement and celebrates their contribution to the university’s growing culture of research excellence and international scholarly engagement.
