By Hattie Wright

KIU, Main Campus - On Saturday, 3rd October 2026, Kampala International University (KIU) School of Law, through the KIU Law Society, successfully hosted KIU Law Society Dinner at Golden Hill Hotel, Muyenga, Kampala.

The aim of the event was to recognise outstanding student achievement, strengthen professional engagement, promote fellowship among law students, and create opportunities for interaction with distinguished legal and professional leaders.

The event attracted hundreds of students, making it the largest Law Society dinner in the history of the KIU School of Law. The dinner also brought together invited guests, legal practitioners, and supporters of the Society for an evening dedicated to recognising excellence, promoting professional development, and celebrating student achievement.

The ceremony was graced by Odrek Rwabwogo, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID) and Dr. Joyce Nalunga Birimumaso, Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Law Society. Their participation provided students with valuable insights and perspectives relevant to their academic and professional journeys.

A key highlight of the evening was the recognition of students who excelled in the KIU Law Society Inter-Class Moot Court Competition and the Law Sports Gala. The awards celebrated excellence in advocacy, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and active participation in Society activities.

The programme also featured an interactive question-and-answer session and a panel discussion, giving students an opportunity to engage directly with the invited speakers, exchange ideas, and discuss issues relevant to the legal profession. The sessions reinforced the educational value of the event by encouraging student participation and meaningful dialogue.

Special appreciation was extended to Credo & Co. Advocates and Tumukunde & Co. Advocates for their continued support towards the activities and growth of the KIU Law Society. Their contribution was recognised as an important factor in promoting student development and professional engagement.

Beyond the formal programme, students enjoyed an evening of networking and fellowship, culminating in entertainment from a live band that created a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.

The dinner was more than a social gathering; it was a celebration of achievement, professional growth, and unity within the School of Law. Through student recognition, professional engagement, and meaningful dialogue, the event reaffirmed the Society's commitment to nurturing future legal professionals.
