KIU Partners with Bio Cosmos Uganda to Pioneer Intelligent Design Studies

KIU, Main Campus - On Friday, July 31, 2026, Kampala International University (KIU) entered a groundbreaking partnership with Bio Cosmos Foundation Uganda, signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will propel research, curriculum development, and academic engagement in intelligent design studies.

The agreement marks a major milestone for KIU as it integrates the scientific theory of intelligent design into its academic and research ecosystem. The collaboration will support innovation, critical inquiry, and the development of training programs that encourage students to explore design as both a conceptual and scientific discipline.

Welcoming the delegation, KIU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhammed Ngoma, expressed optimism about the partnership, noting its potential to enrich KIU’s academic landscape and expand opportunities for interdisciplinary research.

Representing Bio Cosmos Uganda, Joel Isanga, a Board Member, articulated the foundation’s mission and the value of engaging academia:

“Bio Cosmos appreciates the minds behind the beautiful designs created. We are interested in academia because this is where ideas can be exchanged, challenged, and validated through scientific methods.”

Isanga outlined several activities to be undertaken under the MOU, including cross‑sector research projects, curriculum development, and the establishment of student innovation clubs funded through creative initiatives. He emphasized the foundation’s ambition to expand its footprint through collaborations with universities across different regions.

Dr. Mundu Mustafa, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration (F&A), who initiated the signing ceremony, highlighted the partnership’s significance in strengthening KIU’s identity as a multicultural institution offering diverse and globally competitive programs.

“Students who would travel for studies no longer move out of Uganda because what they seek abroad is already here at KIU,” Dr. Mustafa noted, underscoring the university’s growing capacity to deliver world‑class academic experiences.

Adding to this, Dr. Gidraf Joseph Wanjala, Principal of KIU’s College of Education, Open and Distance Learning, announced that KIU will begin developing courses in intelligent design.

“These courses will benefit our students by helping them understand the ideas behind certain designs. Students can also establish clubs to foster innovation and even win grants through the foundation,” he explained.
