KIU Triumphs in East African Dental Quiz 2026, Secures Back-to-Back Wins

KIU, Western Campus - Kampala International University, Western Campus (KIU-WC) continues to make waves in academic excellence, with its dental students emerging victorious in the East African Dental Quiz 2026 competition held on Saturday, March 7, 2026. This marks the university's second consecutive win, following their triumph on July 5, 2025.

The competition, themed "Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind", brought together top dental students from Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, Equator University of Science and Technology, and KIU-WC, Victoria University attended as guests.

The event, organized by the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs in partnership with the Federation of Uganda Dental Students’ Association (FUDSA), tested participants' knowledge, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.

The KIU-WC team, comprising Marvin Oyesigye, Liberty Concy, Imran Kintu, Mustaghfira Yahya Mukhtar Bilou Mohamed, Shamim Namale, Emily Nalumu, Desire Ssegosa, and Jane Francis Nganda, demonstrated exceptional dedication and perseverance, working tirelessly to prepare for the competition. Their hard work paid off, as they showcased outstanding teamwork and clinical expertise, outshining their competitors.

"KIU's success can be attributed to the students' passion for dentistry, coupled with the university's emphasis on practical skills and collaborative learning," said Hadijah Nantale, Dean of Students Affairs.

The team's victory was further celebrated with a thrilling football competition, where they secured first place, and a tour of Queen Elizabeth National Park the following day.

The East African Dental Quiz is an annual event that brings together dental students from across the region to promote academic excellence, cultural exchange, and professional networking. KIU's back-to-back wins are a testament to the university's commitment to nurturing future dental leaders and innovators.
