As I prepare to graduate from Kampala International University (KIU), I look back with gratitude on a journey that has transformed a childhood dream into a clear vision for the future. From a young age, I aspired to become a successful businessman, and studying at KIU gave me the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to pursue that goal.
I chose KIU because of its strong emphasis on practical training, particularly in marketing and accounting. I wanted to learn how to attract customers, manage finances effectively, and build businesses that create value for society. Throughout my studies, I gained experiences that went far beyond the classroom and helped shape me into a more confident and capable individual.
One of the most rewarding experiences was serving as a volunteer intern in Marketing and Customer Care. The role exposed me to the realities of customer relations, sales, and marketing while sharpening my communication and entrepreneurial skills. Contributing to student admissions taught me how to identify opportunities, build relationships, and deliver results.
My journey at KIU was also enriched by leadership and service. I served as Academic Minister in the School of Business and as a Guild Member of Parliament representing the School of Business at KIU Western Campus. As a Peer Educator under the UNESCO O3 Plus programme, I supported fellow students through health and life-skills education while promoting a safe campus environment. Serving as an usher during graduation ceremonies further taught me humility, teamwork, and the value of serving others.
Through these experiences, KIU transformed me into a confident leader equipped with skills in marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship, communication, and servant leadership. More importantly, it inspired me to use those skills to create opportunities and make a positive impact on society.
After graduation, I plan to pursue the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification while establishing business ventures that support economic growth and create employment opportunities. I also hope to mentor young people and inspire them to become innovative entrepreneurs capable of transforming their communities.
Looking back on my own journey, I encourage continuing students to embrace every opportunity to learn, serve, and grow. Put God first in everything you do, remain disciplined, and stay committed to your dreams. The experiences and lessons you gain at KIU can shape you into the professional and leader you aspire to become.
