Before I ever set foot on campus, I met Kampala International University (KIU) through a search bar. Google, Wikipedia and other sites all gave the same answer: KIU is the second-best and the leading private university in Uganda. My siblings and friends who were already studying here said the same. But what truly won me over was a half bursary, offered to me not because of my grades, but simply because the university believed in me.
My experience has been super interesting. KIU has always funded and supported student-led initiatives, including public lectures, workshops and embassy tours, many of them organised under the Diplomats’ Association of KIU (DAKIU). As a student of International Relations, this exposure advanced my profile and visibility in my future career.
I already work with several diplomatic missions in Uganda, yet I remain hungry for knowledge. That is why I will immediately enrol for my Master’s in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies right here at KIU.
To the students still on this road: be positive, consistent, patient, proactive and proficient. Stay on course, and you will succeed in your short and long-term goals.
