NTAC Inspects KIU Staff Facilities Ahead of Volunteer Deployment

KIU, Main Campus - His Excellency Ambassador Bello A. Jaye, Director of Programmes at the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), together with Anaekwe Bartholomew (Head of Chancery, Nigerian High Commission Kampala), Hauwa Arabo Mustapha (Uganda Desk Officer, NTAC), and Hadiza Gana (Assistant Desk Officer, NTAC) paid a courtesy visit to Kampala International University (KIU) Main Campus on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026.

The aim of the visit was to inspect the facilities and accommodation provided to NTAC volunteers, as part of final preparations for the deployment of ten volunteers to KIU. NTAC, established in 1987 under Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is mandated to share Nigerian technical expertise and human resources with countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Ngoma Muhammed, Vice Chancellor of KIU, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for its continued cooperation. He highlighted the staff quarters built in Ishaka and emphasized KIU’s commitment to providing decent accommodation for foreign staff.

Dr. Mundu Mustafa, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration), noted that volunteers are given the opportunity to select accommodation of their choice, ensuring fairness and comfort during deployment.

Ambassador Jaye explained that the inspection was part of NTAC’s final preparations to deploy ten volunteers to KIU. He stressed the importance of safe and decent facilities, transport, and health insurance.

 “We want to ensure that every volunteer we send is taken care of. After analysing the logistics, we will proceed with deployment,” he noted.

The delegation toured staff facilities guided by Senior Administrators: Dr. Asiati Mbabazi, University Secretary; Christine Ainebyoona, Deputy University Secretary and Campus Administrator (Main Campus); Prof. Regina Ejemot Nwadiaro, (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Innovation, Consultancy and Extensions) and Prof. Isah Bala Yabo (Deputy Research Coordinator).

Conclusion

The NTAC courtesy visit reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening academic cooperation with KIU. By ensuring safe and secure facilities for the incoming volunteers, both institutions are laying the groundwork for sustainable collaboration.

The deployment of Nigerian experts will not only enhance KIU’s academic and professional capacity but also deepen Uganda–Nigeria relations through shared expertise, cultural exchange, and mutual growth.
