Rotaract Club of KIU Emerges as a District Leader Through Resilience and Vision

KIU Main Campus - The Rotaract Club of Kampala International University (KIU) has grown into one of the most vibrant and impactful institution-based clubs in Rotary District 9214, thanks to years of visionary leadership, teamwork, and a strong commitment to service.

Once facing challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, the club has since experienced a remarkable resurgence. Today, it stands as a model of excellence, growth, and community engagement.

The latest chapter in this inspiring journey began on September 20, 2025, with the installation of Erasmus Ampereza as club president. His leadership marks a new era of unity and action, building on the strong foundation laid by his predecessors.

“It’s an honour to be installed as president of this beloved club,” Ampereza said. “This moment is about the collective power we hold to make a difference, inspire, and transform lives.”

The club’s revival began in 2022 under President Mildred Kwagala, whose efforts—alongside classmate Maxwell Oliver—sparked renewed energy and participation. Membership grew from just five to 33 active members by the end of her term.

Oliver continued the momentum, expanding the club to 55 members before passing the baton to Nathaniel Nsubuga in 2024. Under Nsubuga’s dynamic leadership, the club reached 70 members and earned seven district awards, including the prestigious Club of the Year 2024–2025.

At the time of Ampereza’s installation, membership stood at 53. However, with the induction of 32 new members, the club now boasts 83 active Rotaractors—the highest of any institution-based Rotaract club in Uganda and District 9214.

Outgoing president Nsubuga praised the club’s culture of humility, passion, and teamwork. “We’ve reached these milestones because of excellent leadership and a shared commitment to service,” he said.

Ampereza pledged to lead with purpose, describing his term as “a year of less words but more action.” He emphasized continuity, collaboration, and the power of service to uplift communities.

“The Rotaractors of KIU have found the meaning of life—service to others,” he said. “A life lived for others is a life forever. Service vanquishes anxiety and depression and makes the world a better place.”

As the club enters this exciting new phase, its members remain focused on sustaining growth, deepening impact, and proving that KIU’s Rotaract renaissance is not just a moment—but a movement.

The Rotaract Club of KIU meets every Monday from 7–8 PM EAT at Momo Restaurant, welcoming all who share a passion for service and leadership.
