Staff Alumni Rally Support for KIU Alumni Homecoming Dinner 2026

KIU, Main Campus - On Friday, 18th September 2026, Kampala International University (KIU) Alumni Association held a staff engagement meeting that brought together alumni representatives who are members of staff and university administrators.

The meeting aimed at strengthening partnerships between alumni and the University, enhancing alumni participation in institutional initiatives, sharing insights on alumni development programmes, and promoting a unified approach to alumni engagement across KIU.

Speaking during the meeting, Praise Bosco Tumuramye, Director of KIU Alumni Affairs, expressed appreciation to staff alumni for their commitment to the Association and called upon them to actively mobilise fellow graduates ahead of the upcoming Alumni Homecoming Dinner.

The meeting was organised as part of preparations for the KIU Alumni Homecoming Dinner scheduled to take place on Friday, 6th November 2026, on the sixth floor at Main Campus. The event is expected to bring together alumni, staff, and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of KIU graduates while strengthening the bond between alumni and their alma mater.

The Homecoming Dinner seeks to promote networking opportunities, strengthen mentorship programmes, and enhance KIU's visibility, credibility, and contribution to society. Activities will be preceded by a friendly football match between the alumni team and the University team, as well as elections for alumni leadership positions.

Ticket categories for the event include ordinary tickets at UGX 100,000, VIP tickets at UGX 200,000, VVIP tickets at UGX 500,000, a table of eight at UGX 1,000,000, and a corporate table at UGX 5,000,000. Early bird tickets will be available at UGX 70,000.

Addressing participants, Christine Ainebyoona, Campus Administrator and Deputy University Secretary, urged staff alumni to fully support the initiative and actively participate in the forthcoming activities.

"KIU management is committed to supporting this event and ensuring its success. I encourage all staff alumni to acquire the event kit and help disseminate information about the Homecoming Dinner because we are all part of the KIU family," she said.

The founding President of the KIU Alumni Association, Dr. Abbas Rutaro, highlighted the importance of the meeting, noting that it provided an opportunity for staff alumni to identify themselves, appreciate their shared strengths, and mobilise support for the upcoming Homecoming Dinner.

"We have successfully registered our Association with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), and one of our greatest strengths lies in our ability to mobilise ourselves and fellow alumni for this important event," he said.

Dr. Rutaro noted that KIU alumni are spread across Uganda and beyond, serving in various sectors, and stressed the need to continue promoting the University's image globally.

"We have alumni from diverse professional backgrounds, and we want to build the KIU brand and showcase it to the world. We must take pride in who we are and, in our University," he added.

Representing staff alumni, Dr. Derrick Ssekajugo, Principal of the College of Economics and Management, called upon members to take personal responsibility for the success of the event.

"Each one of us should consider ourselves a coordinator of this event. If we work together, this Homecoming Dinner can grow into an even greater annual gathering that unites alumni from all generations," he said.

Dr. Ssekajugo further encouraged alumni to leverage their networks and bring together distinguished KIU graduates whose contributions continue to impact communities locally and internationally.

In his closing remarks, Praise Bosco Tumuramye thanked all participants for attending and reaffirmed the Association's commitment to building a vibrant and impactful alumni network.

"KIU is our second home and the institution that continues to unite us. Together, we can create meaningful change and build an alumni association that is recognised as one of the most organised and influential in the region. We must continue mobilising more alumni because we are the ambassadors of the University," he said.

As the meeting came to a close, staff alumni expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Homecoming Dinner and pledged their support towards making it a memorable and transformative event.

The gathering reinforced the Association's vision of fostering a united alumni community that not only celebrates KIU's achievements but also contributes to the University's future through mentorship, networking, advocacy, and service. With preparations gaining momentum, organisers remain optimistic that the Homecoming will mark a significant milestone in strengthening alumni engagement and institutional pride.
