Use Your Talents to Make Money While At University

1,314

We come to the University with different dreams and aspirations. Some of these dreams are accomplished after we leave the University while others are accomplished while still at University.

Life at Campus defines us but it also provides us with lots of opportunities if we are keen enough to notice these open doors. Many of us come with and are blessed with talent; be it sports, creativity or salesmanship.

The University being the springboard that it is for all of us, I encourage you to use it to earn money while still here. Harness your talent and start practicing with all you got so that you can start your professional career and even earn money while at it.

For example, if you are a good writer, earn money by writing blogs, write for newsletters, or become a freelance writer.  If you are good at photography, give free services at weddings and parties over the weekend or during your free time. In no time, someone will notice your talents and offer to pay for your services.

A lot of you will leave the University to do exactly what you are studying here or maybe not.  One thing I know for sure is that, employing your talents will give you fulfillment even more so if your talents are tied in with what you are studying at the University. Pursue that which you can do to your best.

Still, a lot of students go through their early life without refining their talents.  Some don’t discover them at all. Take time to discover who you are and what you are good at, because you could be setting yourself up for greatness.  Perhaps you are a good sales person, negotiator, or you have an eye for fashion and style? Why not start a mobile business? With the internet and social media today, you don’t need a physical shop. A Facebook page or a Whatsapp number is all you need to start. Make money while you study as long as it does not overshadow your current studies. Perhaps you have good public speaking skills, why not be the best in the market and offer to MC at events?

If you have extra time after lectures, seek an internship or a part time job that will get you an allowance. Not only will you hone your skills and build experience for future employment, but you will also command a higher salary when you eventually work full time after graduation because the experience you will have will give you more competitive advantage as an employee.

Some of the world’s richest men, Mark Zukerberg of Facebook, Bill Gates of Microsoft and Steve Jobs of Apple Inc all started their businesses while still at the University.

So go ahead and use this valuable time to define yourself…put a price to that skill and make money even while you study.

Good luck.
