KIU, Western Campus - On Friday 14th February 2025, the Directorate of Research, Innovations, Consultancy, and Extension (DRICE) Western Campus, through its Centre of Excellence for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CoEEI) organized a one-day workshop on Computer Hardware Repair, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting. 

The event held in the Staff Common Room, Administration Block attracted enthusiastic participation from students keen on acquiring practical ICT skills. 

Members of the university management attended the training, including the University Secretary, Ms Asiati Mbabazi, the Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Research (ADVC-A&R), Dr. Ibrahim Babangida Abubakar, the Director of ICT, the Director of RICE, the Deputy Director of Innovation, and the Manager for Internships. Their presence underscored the university’s commitment to fostering hands-on learning experiences that enhance students' technical competencies.

The workshop was conducted in two sessions: the first ran from 9 am to 12 pm, while the second took place from 2 pm to 5 pm. Throughout the training, students were actively engaged in practical exercises, learning essential skills in computer hardware repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

To encourage teamwork and innovation, participants were grouped into four teams, with the top two performing groups receiving a cash prize as a token of appreciation donated by the ADVC-AR, Director RICE and Manager Internship. This competitive yet collaborative approach motivated students to apply their newly acquired skills effectively.

At the end of the workshop, students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in computer hardware. 

KIU remains dedicated to equipping students with relevant skills that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The success of this workshop reaffirms the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and technical expertise among its students.
