KIU, Western Campus - On Friday, September 20th, 2024, the Directorate of Research, Innovation, Consultancy, and Extension (DRICE) through its Centre of Excellence for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CoEEI) at KIU Western Campus, organized a one-day workshop titled "Making Waves: Empowering Students to Address Unemployment through Soap Making Entrepreneurship." 

The workshop, held at the Histology Research Lab from 2:00 - 5:00pm, was conducted by Dr. Ibrahim G. Wawata from the Institute of Biomedical Research Laboratory, alongside his team, including Dr. Lucy Aja. 

The training provided practical skills on soap making using the cold process method, covering essential aspects such as raw material selection, mixing lye with oils, and curing soap bars. 

Organized by Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Buhari, the Deputy Director of Innovation at DRICE and Ogwal Emmanuel, the Manager at CoEEI, the workshop aimed to equip final-year students with entrepreneurial skills to combat unemployment through soap-making ventures. Participants gained hands-on experience and valuable insights into starting their soap-making businesses, thus empowering them with practical skills to address unemployment.
