KIU, Main Campus — Nazil Mugumya will achieve one of his lifelong dreams on July 26, 2025, when he graduates with a Bachelor of Laws degree from Kampala International University (KIU). He is particularly excited to mark this milestone during KIU’s silver jubilee anniversary and the university’s 31st graduation ceremony.

“In the four years I have been at Uganda’s leading private university, a lot of things have changed about me,” Mugumya said.

From learning about the law to co-curricular activities, the once naive but very optimistic law enthusiast admits the university turned his life around.

“This mighty university has shaped me with a great deal of exposure, even beyond the lecture rooms. While at KIU, we had continued interactions with senior counsel through the university mentorship programs as well,” he added.

Mugumya will graduate among the top students in his class, an achievement he attributes to the dedication and professionalism of the School of Law lecturers.

“I am completing this academic journey with no retakes and with a great CGPA,” he said, adding, “I appreciate the university stakeholders, administration, staff and alumni for the selfless services provided at the leading private university, for it helped me to achieve my degree with honor”.

Besides being one of the most vibrant students at KIU, Mugumya also served as a leader in the KIU Law Society — a student body that unites all law students. He held the position of Speaker from 2023 to 2024.

“The most defining moment was on Friday, 10th March 2023, when the law students cast their votes in my favor and I was declared Speaker,” he recounted.

“I was highly involved in football, especially in the Law School Sports Gala, where I led my class to victory in 2023,” he added.

When asked why he chose to join KIU in 2021, Mugumya responded: “The university ranking and the continuous excellence of KIU alumni at the Law Development Centre (LDC) was a great influence to my coming to the university.”When asked about his plans after graduation, Mugumya said, “I would love to pursue my master’s program at the mighty university.”
