At Kampala International University (KIU), the Centre of Excellence, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CoEEI)  has become a vital engine driving student success and fostering a culture of creativity, resourcefulness, and economic empowerment. Established as a dynamic platform for experiential learning and professional development, the Centre is committed to nurturing innovative thinking and empowering students to turn ideas into impactful ventures.

Dr. Mariam Oyedeji Amusa, the Manager of CoEEI, describes the Centre as a strong network of ‘partnerships’. She stresses that collaborations with local businesses, tech companies, and other academic institutions give students real-world exposure and the chance to engage with seasoned professionals.

“These partnerships also foster opportunities for internships, business competitions, and industry-sponsored projects, which enrich students' learning experiences and open doors to future career paths”, she adds

According to Dr. Mariam, the Centre offers students access to numerous programs, resources, and mentorship opportunities.

“With tailored skilling programs, hands-on workshops, and dedicated incubation spaces, the Centre helps students develop the competencies they need to create sustainable businesses, solve societal challenges, and become leaders in their fields,” she highlights

Dr. Mariam emphasized that KIU’s Centre of Excellence, Entrepreneurship and Innovation stands as a testament to the university’s commitment to producing not only academically accomplished graduates but also well-rounded, innovative leaders.
